Centuries after the robotic laborers on a huge generation ship mysteriously rebelled and massacred the humans, the remaining humans live in hiding in a few scattered colonies. An adolescent boy fleeing an attack on his tribe encounters other groups and strange animals and holds out hope to resist further destruction.
