Deborah J. Ross is an American science-fiction and fantasy writer, born in 1947. Early in her career she published novels such as Jaydium and Northlight under the name Deborah Wheeler before returning to her birth name. She is best known for continuing Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover series after Bradley's death in 1999, writing the Clingfire Trilogy and further Darkover novels, and for editing the ongoing Darkover anthology series and the Lace and Blade anthologies. Her original fantasy work includes the Seven-Petaled Shield trilogy (2013-2014). Ross's career in professional science fiction spans four decades, from her 1984 debut short story to novels published in the 2020s.
