Edison Marshall

Edison Marshall (1894-1967) was an American author of historical and adventure fiction, including several novels set in vanished or lost civilizations. Educated at the University of Oregon and a World War I army veteran, he began publishing for magazines such as The Saturday Evening Post before turning to novels full time, at times writing under the pseudonym Hall Hunter. His historical romances were frequently adapted for film, including Benjamin Blake, filmed as Son of Fury with Tyrone Power; Yankee Pasha, starring Jeff Chandler; and The Viking, filmed as The Vikings with Kirk Douglas. Marshall won the O. Henry Award in 1921 and was an avid big-game hunter, recounting his expeditions in the nonfiction book The Heart of the Hunter. He lived most of his later life in Augusta, Georgia.
