Best known for the Kingfountain series, he writes secondary-world fantasy blending court intrigue, prophecy, and dynastic conflict, and has expanded that setting through related series including The Poisoner of Kingfountain, Harbinger, and Angel Sworn. His earlier Muirwood books, including The Scourge of Muirwood and The Wretched of Muirwood, established his recurring interest in maidens, ancient magic, and structured chosen-one narratives.
