Muirwood

In the shadow of the abbeys they teach that belief has a kind of gravity, and that the Medium answers those who learn to listen for it. Muirwood is such a place: a rain-soft land of stone cloisters, tomes engraved on shining metal, and orphaned "wretcheds" set to scrub the kitchens, where a scullery girl may carry more of that unseen force than the kings who rule above her. Jeff Wheeler's world is fantasy in a devotional key, less concerned with battle than with conviction, sacrifice, and the slow discovery of what a person is meant to become. What lingers is the quiet of it. Wheeler writes clean, warm, unhurried prose, and the drama turns on humility and belonging as often as on danger.
