John Vornholt, full name John Blair Vornholt, is an American author, screenwriter, and journalist born in 1951 in Marion, Ohio. Before turning to tie-in fiction, he worked as a screenwriter on 1980s animated series including Ghostbusters and Beverly Hills Teens and served as a lead writer for The Hollywood Reporter and Tucson Weekly. He became one of the most prolific Star Trek novelists, writing original novels such as Masks and Contamination, the multi-book Genesis Wave series, entries in the 'A Time to...' line, and novelizations of the films Generations, First Contact, Insurrection, and Nemesis. Beyond Star Trek, he has written tie-in novels for Babylon 5, Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel, Dinotopia, and Marvel's Spider-Man, alongside original fantasy including The Troll King trilogy. He lives with his wife, Nancy, and their two children.
