Owl Goingback

Owl Goingback is an American author of horror, fantasy, and science fiction, born James Russell Heidbrink on May 1, 1959, in St. Louis, Missouri. He served as a jet engine mechanic in the U.S. Air Force from 1976 to 1981 and later ran a restaurant in Georgia before becoming a full-time writer; he legally changed his name in 2000. Goingback has said he has mixed Choctaw, Cherokee, and Caucasian heritage, and he lectures on Native American customs and folklore alongside his fiction. His debut novel, Crota, won the 1996 Bram Stoker Award for Best First Novel, and Coyote Rage won the Bram Stoker Award for Best Novel in 2019. Other works include Darker Than Night and Evil Whispers. In 2020 the Horror Writers Association gave him its Bram Stoker Lifetime Achievement Award.
