Robert E. Vardeman is an American science-fiction and fantasy writer born in 1947 in Palo Pinto, Texas. He studied physics and materials science at the University of New Mexico and worked at Sandia National Laboratories before becoming a full-time writer, and he co-founded Albuquerque's long-running Bubonicon science-fiction convention. His fantasy work includes the War of Powers series, co-written with Victor Milan, the Cenotaph Road novels, and the Swords of Raemllyn series with George W. Proctor; he has also written tie-in novels for Star Trek, including The Klingon Gambit and Mutiny on the Enterprise. Prolific across genres, he has published widely under pseudonyms such as Daniel Moran, Jackson Lowry, and Paul Kenyon. He received a Hugo Award nomination for Best Fan Writer in 1972.
