Steve Jackson

Steve Jackson is a British game designer born in 1951, who co-founded Games Workshop in 1975 with Ian Livingstone and John Peake, building it from a fledgling games retailer into a major tabletop publisher. Starting in 1982 with The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, Jackson co-created the Fighting Fantasy series of solo gamebooks with Livingstone, an enormously popular format that let readers make choices determining their own adventure, and separately authored the more advanced Sorcery! quartet within the same Titan game-world. He later co-founded the video game studio Lionhead Studios with Peter Molyneux, departing after Microsoft's acquisition in 2006, and now serves as an honorary professor of digital games theory and design at Brunel University. He is frequently confused with the unrelated American game designer of the same name behind GURPS.
