Steve Perry (born 1947) is an American novelist and television writer with more than fifty books to his name. Before writing full-time he worked variously as a swimming instructor, lifeguard, martial arts instructor, private investigator, and nurse; he practices the Indonesian martial art Silat, which informs the fictional fighting styles in much of his fiction. He is best known for the Matador series, chronicling a rebellion against a corrupt interstellar government through a cast of assassins and revolutionaries, and for numerous media tie-in novels, including the bestselling Star Wars novel Shadows of the Empire, several Aliens and Aliens versus Predator novels, and entries in Tom Clancy's Net Force series. Perry also wrote for animated television, earning an Emmy nomination for a Batman: The Animated Series script. His son, S. D. Perry, is also a science fiction novelist.
