More like this

Sylvia Engdahl's Elana duology follows a young trainee of the Anthropological Service, an interstellar organization that observes less advanced worlds without interfering, as she is sent on missions among societies mistaking her people's science for magic or divine power. Enchantress from the Stars (1970), Engdahl's debut, established Elana and the Service's Prime-Directive-like ethics; The Far Side of Evil (1971) carries her into a darker, more morally ambiguous follow-up mission. Both are YA science fiction concerned with cultural contact and the ethics of intervention.
