Clive Barker's The Hellbound Heart introduces the puzzle box that summons the Cenobites and the domestic horror story around it, later adapted into the Hellraiser film series. The Scarlet Gospels, written decades later, brings the character back for a direct confrontation with Barker's other recurring figure, occult detective Harry D'Amour. Other contributors have added further Hellraiser tie-in fiction, including prequel and screenplay-adaptation volumes, expanding the mythology started in the original novella.
