David Zindell's Neverness (1988) is a science fiction novel drawing on Arthurian legend, imagining interstellar 'pilots' as knights on a quest through exotic mathematics and myth for the secret of immortality. It grew out of Zindell's 1985 award-winning novelette 'Shanidar' and was followed by the sequel The Remembrancer's Tale.
