The galaxy has mostly learned to get along. Among the humanoid telepaths called Sires, born on the world of Marc'harid, thought crosses the void without translation, and a mind can reach another across a crowded landing dock or the dark between systems. This is Star Minds: a far-future where the Milky Way hums with civilization and Earth is a green backwater on the rim, remembered chiefly by those few Sires who once walked it and then went home to the stars. It is the life's work of a single writer, Barbara G. Tarn, built patiently across five linked series that follow the same widening family of worlds down the generations — the founding Star Minds, an Interregnum, then Third Generation, Next Generation, and the Lone Wolves Team. The peoples multiply as you read: Humanoids and Felines, winged Carians and their Caroid kin, and the cold-blooded Reptilians of Serress, with whom warmth never quite holds. Peace is the setting's default, and its recurring question. The register is humane rather than martial — character-driven space opera about tolerance, found family, and the slow work of species learning each other, with Earth's spoiled ecology held up as a warning rather than a home. Newcomers start with Technological Angel, the Sire Kol-ian's return from Earth, and follow the generations forward from there.
