These are the novelizations of the original Star Wars film trilogy: Star Wars (1976, credited to George Lucas but ghostwritten by Alan Dean Foster), The Empire Strikes Back (1980, by Donald F. Glut) and Return of the Jedi (1983, by James Kahn). Each closely follows its film but restores or invents small scenes and character beats the movies leave out, and the Empire novelization notably introduced print readers to Lando Calrissian and Boba Fett ahead of the film's release.
