The Carpet People
Terry Pratchett · 2 novels · 2 novelettes · 1971–2014
The Carpet People imagines an entire civilization of tiny peoples living among the towering fibers of a carpet, where different tribes must set aside old rivalries and unite against a shared threat sweeping through their world. Terry Pratchett wrote the original version at seventeen, then substantially rewrote it in 1992, famously noting that the book 'had two authors, and they were both the same person.' It reads as an early, more straightforward dry run for the comic invention Pratchett would later bring to Discworld.
