The Jungle Book (1894) and The Second Jungle Book (1895) are Rudyard Kipling's linked short-story collections set in the jungles of India, centered on Mowgli, a boy raised among wolves alongside animal characters such as Baloo the bear and the tiger Shere Khan, though several stories in both books stand apart from Mowgli's own arc. Katherine Rundell's Into the Jungle: Stories for Mowgli (2018) is a later, authorized companion adding further stories of Mowgli's early life within the same jungle-book universe. Taken together the books read less as one continuous plot than as an expanding set of tales sharing a setting and cast.
