The Vorrh is B. Catling's dark historical fantasy set around an immense, possibly sentient forest on the edge of a colonial African city, examining colonialism, mythology, and guilt through a cast of characters drawn toward and altered by it. Alan Moore's foreword helped drive attention to the book on its international 2015 re-release. Catling continued the story across two more books, The Erstwhile and The Cloven.
