The Shadow Guild
Linsey Hall · 5 series · 16 novels · 2020–2021
London keeps its business after dark, and the strangest of it answers to the Shadow Guild — a refuge in the city's magical underbelly for the supernaturals the covens and clans would rather forget: rogue witches, exiled shifters, vampires with nowhere to belong, and the occasional escaped god. Linsey Hall runs this urban-fantasy romance at a sprint through neon-lit, spell-slick streets, where a Guild contract is never only a contract and the fated match at the end of it tends to bite back. The world fans out into four self-contained romances, each built around one couple and one case they can't walk away from. In The Rebel, Carrow crosses paths with the Devil of Darkvale; Wolf Queen pits Eve against the alpha Lachlan; Vampire Bride pairs sharp-tongued Mac with the vampire Drakon; and Hades & Persephone drags Seraphia into the underworld's oldest bargain. It shares its London and its magic with Hall's FireSouls books but carries no cast over, so no prior reading is owed — any door opens onto the whole. Expect banter, high heat, and monsters fought on the run rather than brooded over across a thousand pages; the tone is quick, warm, and unapologetically steamy. Newcomers should begin with The Rebel and its opener, Once Bitten — Carrow's story unlocks the Guild's doors and sets the rhythm the other three couples dance to.
