A Little Dedication

Duke Agloval is besotted with Sh'eenaz, a mermaid who won't trade her tail for legs any more than he'll give up the sea for her—so he hires Geralt to somehow bridge an impasse that has nothing to do with monsters and everything to do with love. A Little Dedication is one of the novellas gathered in Sapkowski's Sword of Destiny, using a fairy-tale premise to needle at what people are actually willing to sacrifice for each other.
