Two explorers cross Venus's thick, superheated atmosphere in a research aircraft, one flying by hand and the other wired directly into the ship's own controls. When the craft goes dead in the air and every diagnostic comes up empty, the pair must talk through what senses and instruments they have left before the air runs out.
