Do Comets Dream?

Every five thousand years, the people of Thanet believe their world ends in fire and is reborn — and the approach of a comet they call the Death-Bringer means the prophesied end is near. Picard sees a hazard he can simply deflect, until he realizes that saving Thanet's civilization from destruction might mean destroying the beliefs that hold it together, while Counselor Troi discovers the comet itself may be alive.
