Peacemaker

Jessica Francis is about to become Earth's first Peacemaker, the Galactic Union's elite negotiator-enforcers, and assumes her commission is a formality until skeptics in the Guild demand she prove she can talk before she fights. Her test comes on Araf, a supposed terraformed paradise sliding toward war between three desperate colonies, and Jessica has never walked away from a fight, even when the job calls for peace instead.
