In the decaying remains of a technological intergalactic civilization, an interstellar courier, hired to deliver the supposed reincarnation of their leader to the headquarters of a religious group against the violent opposition of a competing sect, teams up with a genetically engineered woman with paranormal powers who is herself pursued by a violent political movement.
