Emily finally begins the apprenticeship she's long owed to Void, the sorcerer who saved her life, a training regimen hard enough to have broken lesser magicians before her. Partway through, Void sends her alone into an unfamiliar kingdom with no clear brief, leaving her to work out the mission for herself, and to face a choice that could cost her, or the kingdom, everything.
