The Last Wish

A djinn trapped in a bottle, an ill-worded wish, and a sorceress named Yennefer: that's all it takes to bind Geralt's fate to hers in ways neither of them wanted. The Last Wish, the title story of Sapkowski's first Witcher collection, is the origin of Geralt and Yennefer's famously turbulent relationship, told partly in flashback as a wounded Geralt recovers at an inn with his friend, the bard Dandelion.
