Emmett, were-leopard of the DarkRiver pack, is assigned to protect human Ria Wembley after she is attacked by a member of a rival gang, Vincent's Crew. Set in San Francisco in August of 2072. According to the author's Web site, this takes place before the first Psy-Changeling novel Slave to Sensation, and after the novella "Beat of Temptation."
