Emberverse

S. M. Stirling's Emberverse series begins on March 17, 1998, when a mysterious global event called the Change permanently disables electricity, firearms, and every other form of high-energy technology, forcing surviving humanity back into a low-tech, often neo-feudal world. Centered first on Oregon's Willamette Valley - where factions like the Bearkillers, the Wiccan Clan Mackenzie, and the authoritarian Portland Protective Association carve out new societies - the series expands across three trilogies following, in turn, the first generation of survivors, their adult children, and eventually their grandchildren, alongside new nations forming worldwide.
