Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga follows Miles Vorkosigan, the physically disabled son of a powerful military family on the martial planet Barrayar, who builds a secret second identity as a mercenary fleet admiral while officially serving in Barrayaran intelligence.
