The System Apocalypse

[Notification: Earth has been assigned to the Galactic Council. Dungeon World status: pending.] One ordinary morning the sky fills with glowing blue text and the rules of reality are rewritten as a game — Levels, Classes, Skills, Mana, and monsters that respawn where they died. Most of humanity does not survive the first hour. In the frozen quiet of Whitehorse, Yukon, a practical, unheroic survivor named John Lee reads his first System prompt, picks a Class, and starts grinding: kill things, gain experience, spend Stat points, and try not to die before the tutorial ends. This is core LitRPG — every mechanic on the page, character sheets and all — built out across a main arc that opens with Life in the North and follows John from one besieged town toward the vast alien bureaucracy that annexed his planet. Around that spine sits a widening shared world: short fiction, plus offshoots by other hands (Relentless, Kismet, Liberty, and an Australian front) that drop fresh survivors into other corners of the same System-swallowed Earth. What sets it apart is its blunt, systems-first pragmatism: less chosen-one prophecy than logistics, resource math, and the grim arithmetic of who lives. The integration is bleak and often brutal, leavened by dry humour and the small, real satisfaction of a level-up earned.
