Black Fire

An explosion tears through the Enterprise bridge, killing cadets and leaving Spock too injured to stand — which doesn't stop him from taking command and chasing down what caused it. His investigation turns up the Tomarii, a species that worships war for its own sake, behind a string of attacks on Klingons and Romulans alike, and it turns personal once the evidence starts pointing at Spock himself.
