StarCraft Universe

Three species share the Koprulu Sector, and none of them will leave it whole. The Terrans are humanity's castoffs—convicts, exiles, and colonists flung to the galactic rim, now clawing that frontier into empire. The Zerg are a single ravenous will wearing a billion bodies, assimilating every genome worth keeping. The Protoss are ancient, psionic, and proud to the edge of ruin. StarCraft is the chronicle of their collision: a far-future war saga where every victory is somebody's extinction, fought in the black between dying colony worlds. The novels run alongside the wars, filling the silences the campaigns leave behind. Jeff Grubb's Liberty's Crusade rides with a journalist embedded in Arcturus Mengsk's rebellion; Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta send a lone salvage hunt into ruins the swarm has already found; Christie Golden's Dark Templar Saga—Firstborn, Shadow Hunters, Twilight—unearths what the Protoss buried about their own beginnings; the Ghost novels stalk the psychic assassins the Terran state pretends it doesn't own. Loosely linked and largely standalone, the books are ordered by the sector's own timeline, not one continuous spine. What sets it apart is the flatness of the moral ground. No faction here is clean, and the swarm's hunger reads less as villainy than as biology—horror without a face to hate. Newcomers with no strategy game behind them can open Liberty's Crusade, which retells the opening war from boots-on-the-ground; readers drawn to the alien mind should begin with Golden's Firstborn and take the Dark Templar Saga in its printed order.
