Alien Universe

In space, the distance between a distress call and a rescue is measured in the years it takes your body to become worth something to the company. This is the universe of the Nostromo and the xenomorph: a cold, industrial future where humanity has spread into the dark on the back of corporate freight and found waiting there a life-form perfected for a single purpose, turning the living into more of itself. Weyland-Yutani has a use for that. You are the delivery mechanism. Built outward from Ridley Scott's Alien and James Cameron's Aliens, the printed universe folds in the Predator hunts and the Alien vs. Predator crossovers as one shared continuity. Alan Dean Foster novelized the core films; Titan's "canonical" trilogy threads fresh stories through the gaps between them, with Tim Lebbon's Out of the Shadows, James A. Moore's Sea of Sorrows, and Christopher Golden's River of Pain. Lebbon's Rage War drives the timeline forward into open war; Steve Perry and S. D. Perry carried the earlier comics-era Aliens and AvP novels; anthologies gather many hands. It sprawls across decades and publishers, canon and tie-in loosely stitched. What holds across all of it is dread, not spectacle: narrow corridors, the patient biology of infection, and a corporation that reads human lives as line items. No chosen one walks these decks, only crews, marines, and prisoners who mostly do not walk off them. Start where the fear was first engineered, with Foster's Alien and Aliens, then step into Out of the Shadows. There is no single master sequence here; film and publication order is the honest map.
